Alumni Web Site – Usage Instructions

The Alumni Information Database

The Alumni Information Database is designed to provide graduates of the Computer Science Department at Texas State UniversitySan Marcos a forum for interaction after graduation and a searchable body of information relating to fellow graduates for purposes of employment, research, and mutual interest.

 

To start:

 

To register in the database:

  • Click the alumni “Registration" button, located on the Navigation Bar on the left side of the screen.
  • Enter information if the required fields (marked by an *) and whatever other information you wish to be published. 
  • Click the "Submit" button.
  • You can modify your resume at a later date or event delete your profile if you so decide.

 

The Resume Database

 

Featured on the site is the ability for every registrant to list and post a detailed resume. Information on the resumes includes degrees held, employment experience, references, and the contact information also available in the basic search. Employers can then search all the resumes listed in the database by multiple keywords and search criteria.

 

To enter your resume information:

  • Login using your registered account.
  • Click on the “My Resume” link.
  • Click on Add resume.
  • Select your skill sets. Skill sets help employers search for information based on specific skills.
  • Cut and paste your resume in text only format.
  • Click the submit button at the bottom of the page.
  • You can modify your resume at a later date or even delete it if you so decide.

 

 

The Search Facility

 

To search the alumni database:

1.      Click the "Search" button, on the Navigation Bar at the left.

2.      Select Search Profile to search the database by name, graduation year, and current state of residence

3.      Employers can also select Search Resume to look for specific skills and to search within resumes.

 

 

The Bulletin Board:

 

To aid the formation of an online community, where everybody can be in contact with each other and to facilitate discussions, a bulletin board has been added. This feature allows registered alumni, and/or guests, to start discussions on different topics.

 

To post or reply to forum topics

  1. Go to http://alumni.cs.txstate.edu
  2. Click on the “Bulletin Board” link
  3. You will be presented with a list of discussion forums. Choose the appropriate forum. Forums are named based on the discussion topics
  4. Once inside a forum you can either start a new topic or reply to existing topics.
  5. You can also request a new forum using the “Request New Forum” link.
  6. Click on “Usage Policy and Disclaimer” link in the bulletin board main page for appropriate usage and disclaimer information.
